Elections Consultative Group meeting

Elections Consultative Group meeting this morning ... with only four weeks and a day to go, the volume of forms and instructions for us lowly election-agents is increasing by the minute :-(

I know there's a lot at stake this time round - Scottish Parliament elections AND a Referendum Count to conduct ... but is it really any worse than 1999 and 2003 when 3 ballot boxes had to be sorted before any counting; and when we returned to the Local Government Count at 12.30pm on the Friday?

... and in 1999 that followed some +5am Scottish Parliamentary declarations!

So yes, a 4pm return on the Friday (for the Referendum count this time round) will provide challenges ... and I'm not underestimating them ... but a little perspective wouldn't go amiss.

Hope there isn't confusion like there was in 2007.

Is Labour running a list vote campaign to combat AS 4 FM?

Thanks for the comment.

There shouldn't be the same level of confusion (famous last words!) as the problems in 2007 were mainly around the conjoining of the previously separate AMS ballot paper.

They've now been separated again, so everyone will get 2 Scottish Parliament ballot papers - as per 1999 and 2003.
