It's the economy, stupid

Think it was Bill Clinton who coined that famous phrase - it's the economy, stupid ...

... and today's national campaigning was certainly dominated by the opposing arguments over the most effective, short-term economic direction for the country.

Robert Peston (at the BBC) has a useful 'reality check' on some of the claims and counter-claims ...

... and whilst the political arguments show no sign of abating - out there in the real world it is indeed the economy, stupid.
