Brief visit to Tollcross Primary School, and the Gaelic Unit, this morning ...
... clearly some big decisions coming up for the future of Gaelic education in Edinburgh - think the final reports are going to the Full Council Meeting of Thursday 30th June 2011?
So, was good to see and hear of the main issues first hand.

I hope that the council will do the right thing and open a stand-alone Gaelic school. This in line with national and international good practice and is the settled will of the local and national Gaelic community.

Thanks for the comment.
There are mixed views, across all the political Groups, on this issue - but I'm doing all I can to help ensure that my colleagues come to this (on the 30th June) from an informed position, so that any final decision is one taken on the basis of factual evidence.
Many thanks for checking out the blog!

I concur with the first comment - it's very clear that the demand is there for a Gaelic school and it's the best educational option. Cramming more and more children on to the overcrowded Tollcross site would be bad for all concerned. Glasgow is moving to open a second Gaelic school - why is there so much resistance from Edinburgh Council?!

Thanks for the comment.
I'm not sure there is such 'resistance' - but ultimately, it's not a final decision for the current Opposition Groups I'm afraid.
