UK economy flat-lining

Personally, I'm delighted to see the economy back in growth and pleased that the country has avoided a double-dip recession (just!) ...

... but, politicians of all colours should take no great comfort from today's GDP figures, which do show that the UK economy has basically flat-lined over the last six months.

Frankly, I can see little or no justification for claiming that somehow this signifies the economic down-turn is over? For many, many people it's only about to begin as the true impact of recent budgetary decisions start to take hold :-(

  1. You do mean the true impact of the Labour Party's bankrupting of the UK economy, don't you?

    Thanks for the comment.

No I don't mean that. Public money was used to stop a recession becoming a depression. It was the right thing to do.

The alternatives were not palatable and I'm glad there was a Labour Government in power at the time that took the decisions it did.

By contrast, I do firmly believe the decisions made post 2010 are now prolonging that recession unecessarily.

I suspect we may not agree, but thanks for taking the time to check out the blog.

Labour has failed to exploit these diviisons in the SNP.

The electorate also needs reminding of the Salmond's thatcher gaffe in 2008
