Edinburgh South Suburban Railway

An electronic petition calling for the re-introduction of local passenger services on the Edinburgh South Suburban Railway, raised by an ex-colleague of mine, is still open on the Scottish Parliament's website here ...

... it can be signed up until 8th September 2007. I've signed it, and would encourage others to do so.

Despite huge investment in transport infrastructure throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians over the last decade, this is one project that never attracted appropriate funding from the Scottish Executive ... maybe the new Executive will approach the project afresh - the more signatures on the petition, the more likely they are to sit up and take notice of course :-)

Should maybe read:

"this is one project that never attracted appropriate funding from the Labour controlled Scottish Executive ... maybe the new and better SNP Controlled Executive will approach the project afresh.

... come 2011, lets see which 4-year period has seen the most transport infrastructure investment for Scotland:

1. 2007-2011 or
2. 2003-2007

... I'll take bets now if you like :-)
