Auchterarder weekend

Up to Auchterarder this afternoon for an overnight stay ...

... as is ever the case, my wayward brother forced me to drink far too much whisky than is helpful for one's good health.

Truly terrible time had by all ;-)

Auchterarder tomorrow ...

Off up to sunny Auchterarder tomorrow afternoon, where my brother lives, for a bit of a 'family barbecue/general gathering'.

... obviously hoping the weather holds out okay!

He is a distinctly bad influence on me - as I've mentioned before - so, may not be much blogging this weekend I'm afraid :-(

... just when you need a quiet, alcohol free weekend :-((

Another 'Party' event and Auchterarder

Yet another Party Political event this morning ... weekend meetings go down so well at home, as I'm sure all normal people out there can appreciate :-(

Actually, it was a very good post-election gathering which didn't descend into fits of despair, yet was realistic in its assessment of May 3rd ... i.e. we lost ;-(( ... need to learn and move on ;-)

Easily said, but practical actions now beginning to come forward ...

Anyhow; on a much more serious note ... up to Auchterarder later this afternoon to visit my brother. Stayed the night; and had a very unhealthy amount of 16-year old Lagavulin. He's a distinctly bad influence on me, practically forcing it down my throat :-(

Weekend visit to Auchterarder

Visited my brother's new house in Auchterarder this weekend ... lovely spot. Had a really good lunch there on Saturday, followed by plenty of good wine, whisky later, and even the odd cigar on his balcony overlooking some local hills.

Auchterarder today

Managed a visit to a very sunny-Auchterarder this afternoon ... bit of a family barbecue, and the weather really was remarkably good.

Didn't stay too late - always a bit dangerous to do so! - and managed to get back to Edinburgh late evening, in preparation for more City Centre campaigning tomorrow.

Survived

Well, managed to survive the family gathering up at Auchterarder - only just.

And even the weather remained fine for the barbecue :-)

"Wedding-mania"

Blogging may well be light over the next few days - possibly until Wednesday actually :-(

... "wedding-mania" is about to well-and-truly take over all else I'm afraid - even Euro2008 :-((

Remember that Stag Weekend - well, the actual wedding day itself is Monday - but there are various events (all up in sunny Auchterarder) over the weekend, before my brother actually ties the knot!

Looking forward to it all - but still struggling with the ethics of just how far I should embarrass him in my speech ;-)

Allotment tidy-up

Bob's funeral yesterday was completely packed with very moving, and heartfelt, tributes to a man clearly held in the highest regard by many.

I couldn't make the event in Bonnyrigg afterwards, as had to dash up to Auchterarder for an annual family-gathering.

Back to Edinburgh late last night and a bit of allotment-therapy this afternoon ... blustery weather, but really mild.

Last visit before some annual-leave (at the end of this week), so quite a serious tidy-up was in order ... here's the plot after several hours of hard work ;-)
